Parking Regulations

Permit Parking Only
Parking regulations are enforced year-round, even when classes are not in session.

Weekend Parking Rules
Parking in any legal, non-reserved space is FREE from 4 p.m. on Friday through 6 a.m. on Monday.

Campus Lots

Permit parking is valid 6 a.m.-midnight in any commuter, employee or visitor lots (year-round) .  (No parking midnight – 6 a.m. in commuter, employee or visitor lots.)

Parking lots are shown as representations only; individual spaces may not be completely accurate.

Parking in any legal, non-reserved space is FREE from 4 p.m. on Friday through 6 a.m. on Monday.

Disabled Parking

A number of parking spaces throughout various lots on campus are designated for handicapped parking. These parking spaces are clearly marked and are restricted for use by individuals displaying a valid handicapped permit or handicapped license plate AND a valid UW Oshkosh parking permit.  Any vehicle displaying both these permits may be parked in any disabled parking space on campus.  Any vehicle that does not display both permits will be ticketed.

UW Oshkosh parking permits can be purchased in the Parking Services office.

Vehicles with handicapped permits may be parked at meters; however, meter fees must still be paid.

Handicapped permits (temporary and permanent) and handicapped license plates can only be obtained from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

State Permit and UW Oshkosh Permit are required in Disabled Parking spaces, which are located in these lots:

*The van accessibility area of a disabled parking area (striped area) is part of the disabled space as defined by Wisconsin law and is subject to a $100 fine.

Motorcycle/Moped Parking

Parking for motorcycles/mopeds is available from April 15 – Nov. 15.

Motorcycles/mopeds cannot park in regular parking spaces.  Please use the designated spaces in the following lots:

  • Lot 6a
  • Lot 7
  • Lot 11
  • Lot 13
  • Lot 18
  • Lot 23
  • Lot 25
  • South Gruenhagen Area
  • High Avenue Parking Ramp

Mopeds may park at bike racks but must NOT be operated on sidewalks.

Metered Parking

Meters are available in the following lots at the the cost of $1/hour:

  • Lot 11
  • Lot 13
  • Lot 14
  • Lot 18
  • Lot 23
  • Lot 25
  • Lot 28
  • Lot 29
  • Lot 33
  • Lot 37
  • Osceola Street by SRWC

Permits are NOT valid in metered stalls.

Cost conversion at a rate of $1.00 per hour:

  • Nickel = 3 minutes
  • Dime = 6 minutes
  • Quarter = 15 minutes

Meters are enforced Monday through Thursday 6 a.m.–midnight and on Fridays 6 a.m.–4 p.m. Parking is not permitted in metered spaces after midnight. When a lot is closed, the meters located in that lot may not be used.

Vehicles with handicapped permits may be parked at meters; however, meter fees must still be paid.

After the first ticket is issued for meters and time-limited loading zones, additional tickets may be issued at the designated increments of illegal parking in those areas, for example, every 15 minutes (15-minute zone), every 20 minutes (20-minute meter), etc.

If you experience a problem with a meter, contact Parking Services immediately at 920-424-4455 to notify us of the meter number and the problem you are encountering so we may address the issue.  If after hours, please leave a message so we may follow up the next business day.

Pay Stations

Pay stations allow you to purchase a parking permit valid in increments of four minutes to 16 hours.

Pay-and-Display Stations:

The permit must be placed on the passenger side of the front dash in such a way that it is clearly visible to enforcement staff. Expired pay stubs must be removed from the dash.

Locations:

  • High Avenue ($1/hour)
  • Osceola Street ($1/hour)
  • Lot 15 ($1.50/hour)

Parking is not permitted on High Avenue or Osceola Street 2–5 a.m.

Parking is not permitted in Lot 15 from midnight to 6 a.m. Tuesday through Friday.

Permits are NOT valid in pay station locations on High Avenue and Osceola Street.  In Lot 15, pay station payment and visitor permits only are allowed – no other permit types are allowed.

Pay-by-Space Stations:

Location:

  • First level of the High Avenue Parking Ramp ($1/hour)

To Use:

  1. Pull into a parking space. (REMEMBER the space number.)
  2. Go to the pay-by-space pay station (located in stairwells of ramp).
  3. Type in the space number and press ENTER.
  4. Insert bills and/or coins, or credit card to add time.
  5. Press the GREEN button to validate the transaction and print receipt. (If the GREEN button is not pushed, the transaction will NOT be valid.)

You cannot add time after you have pressed the GREEN button. Pay stations cannot refund money. 

If you experience a problem with a pay station, contact Parking Services immediately at 920-424-4455 to notify us of the pay station number and the problem you are encountering so we may address the issue.  If after hours, please leave a message so we may address it the following business day.
